Inside & You’re Out Burgers on Bree Street

A new ethical burger bar has opened up on Cape Town’s trendy restaurant strip in Bree Street. Inside & You’re Out (known as IYO for short) consider themselves super sustainable, from the fresh produce they use, right down to the decor.

This burger bar is the brainchild of Jean-Marc Lenferna and Jonah Lewis, who saw a gap in the market when it came to delicious eco-friendly food. They source their meat, veggies, bread and alcohol from small local suppliers and entrepreneurs.

All of the wood (spruce board) used within the restaurant is FSC approved, which means that for every tree used, another is planted. Packaging is recycled and all drinking vessels are in the form of glass Consol Jars – so there is no waste. Till slips are sent electronically via email to save paper. Each main table is decorated with an embedded herb garden made from recycled pallets.

IYO Burgers is situated at 131 Bree Street and is open Monday to Friday from 12pm – 11pm and on Saturdays from 5pm – 11pm.
