Egg Designs has long been one of Durban’s leading studios, with work by co-owners Greg and Roché Dry a favourite among local decorators and homeowners, as well as on the international design stage.

Now the duo are taking Johannesburg by storm. The position of the new showroom on the ground-floor corner of the new 03 Desmond development means it’s one of the first things you’ll see when you drive into Kramerville.

Greg and Roché told VISI they had been hoping to make a move to Johannesburg for some time but only took the leap when they found the right premises. The vast space means they have the freedom to display a wide selection of their designs, from the wire rocking chairs and coloured lockers we all know and love, to the classic wardrobes and dining-room tables they send all over the world.

Another highlight of the Kramerville showroom is the space that’s dedicated entirely to showcasing flat-packed children’s furniture, from cots and lights, to see-saws and animal money boxes. This is definitely yummy mummy heaven and the affordable, easy-to-transport furniture for little people is already walking out the door.

The eclectic mix of designs demonstrates that it’s impossible to pigeonhole Egg Designs’ creative signature – and that’s just how Greg and Roché like it.

But don’t think of them as furniture designers alone, because they are also interior designers and will be servicing their Johannesburg client base from the Kramerville showroom.
