Walking on air

Something between a transparent trampoline and a jumping castle, Argentinian artist Tomàs Saraceno‘s On Space Time Foam installation has given us serious FOMO (fear of missing out).

Installed in the Hangar Bicocca in Milan, Italy, until the 3 February 2013, the work entails three layers of clear PVC film suspended 24m above the ground – 1 200 square meters of film in total. Visitors who are over-18 are invited to take a walk, seemingly on thin air.

As people move around, the shape of the installation changes, consuming the walkers. Tomàs explains: “’Each step, each breath, modifies the entire space – it is a metaphor for how our interrelations affect the Earth and other universes.”

Visitors who prefer to keep their feet on the ground can watch the fun from below.
