6. Awesome foursome : Deputy editor Annemarie Meintjes had such a good week, she couldn’t choose: “1. Glitter caramel from Sumien. 2. The brand new VISI. 3. An invitation to Salone del Mobile di Milano. 4. A family table set with gold delicious monster Tretchikoff plates.”|
4. Vine compilation by Zach King : “Who said magic was just for kids?,” reflects ed-at-large Malibongwe Tyilo. “I love Zach’s vine; his clever editing is impactful in six seconds, making me want to ask ‘How?’ He also reminds that the only limits to our creativity exist in our minds!”|
1. Past and Future Calendar by Bitri : “This calendar lets you ‘travel’ through time,” managing ed Lise Avis explains. “The wooden box has drawers for the future and the past, with a sheet of high-quality paper for each day. You can’t hide from the present as it’s the one you’re writing on!”|
3. Strata Paper Vine by Dylan Blau : Editor-in-chief Sumien Brink spent time expanding her technological horizons this week, with the assistance of Clem Pedro from Taste, and found this delightful Vine. “Who would have thought that paper can be so dynamic?” she exclaims.|
2. A Temporary Engagement by Scott Carter : “Jigsaw-ed and popped out of the walls to fashion furniture or sculptures, these installations get the balance right between juggling old-fashioned authenticity with modern ideas around mass-production,” postulates features writer Debbie Loots.|
7. KitchenAid Stand Mixer from Yuppichef : “The product that has really made my week is my brand new red KitchenAid stand mixer,” gushes brand manager Cecilia du Plessis. “It’s beautiful, it makes meringue like a dream, and I’m more than a little bit in love with it.”|
8. Garlic Zoom from Yuppiechef or @home : “This is my new favourite little helper in the kitchen,” says our account director Cat Anderson. “I use it absolutely every night. For anyone who loves cooking, this clever tool is simple, effective and essential.”|
5. Fan from Babylonstoren : Features and online ed Nadine Botha set up VISI’s new Vine account this week and in the spirit of moving images recorded her highlight of the week — a much needed fan for Cape Town’s heat wave!|
You’ll be forgiven for thinking that our team’s picks this week are sponsored by Yuppiechef and Vine! Of course they are not, but it certainly goes to show how much time we spent in the kitchen over the holiday season, as well as how much fun we can have when we find a new technological toy to play with. Meanwhile, unusual calendars, pop-out-of-the-walls sculptures and invites to the Milan Furniture Fair all also made the beautiful life worth enjoying this week.
